Police believe they've identified vehicle, driver involved in pedestrian hit-and-run

Calgary police say they believe they've found the vehicle and driver involved in a hit-and-run collision that injured a pedestrian walking along Memorial Drive at night on the weekend.

The injured pedestrian was taken to hospital in life-threatening condition and is still in serious condition, the Calgary Police Service said in a release Monday morning.

The collision happened at about 1:45 a.m. Sunday.

Police say the pedestrian was walking on the south side of Memorial Drive N.E. near the Calgary Zoo exit when struck by an eastbound sedan that didn't remain at the scene.

Eastbound Memorial between Edmonton Trail and the zoo exit was closed for hours as investigators collected evidence.

Police said Monday that investigators believethey have found the vehicle and the driver.

Police did not identify the suspect or say whether charges had been laid.

The vehicle believed to have been involved is a grey 2016 Chrysler 300, police said.

Investigators ask that anyone who may have seen the vehicle in the area around the time of the collision to contact police at 403-266-1234.
