Woman dies after southeast Calgary hit and run

Calgary police are investigating after a woman died Saturday morning from injuries in a hit-and-run collision in Forest Lawn on Thursday night.

Calgary police are investigating after a woman suffered critical, life-threatening injuries in a hit-and-run collision in Forest Lawn on Thursday night.

At about 7:55 p.m., a dark-coloured sedan was heading west on 17th Avenue S.E. near the 44th Street intersection when the collision occurred. The driver of the sedan struck a 27-year-old woman who was crossing the avenue northbound.

The woman was taken to hospital anddied from her injuries early Saturday morning,police said in a release.

The driver failed to remain at the scene. Police are searching for the culprit.

The car, which could have front-end damage on the passenger side, was last seen heading west on 17th Avenue S.E.
