A 30-year-old Calgary man is facing first-degree murder charges in connection with the suspiciousdeath of his wife.

Calgary police say they have now notifiedall family members ofthe woman found in medical distressin the city's northeast on Friday.

Her husband, Gagandeep Sidhu, will make his first court appearance Tuesday in Calgary.

The womanwas found outside of an apartment building in the 200 block of Templegreen Drive N.E. on Friday. She was transported to hospital withcritical injuries andpronounced dead shortly after.

Investigators say it appears the couple got into a fight about their relationship duringa drive. Sidhuhad not been feeling well and they were on their way to the hospital.

Police say the woman tried to escapeand becametangled in the car's seatbelt and was dragged a significant distance.

She eventually got free but police say the man caught up with her and another altercation took placewhere she sustained injuries.

Police said Sidhu then left the area andcontinued on tothe nearby hospital where he told staff about his wife.

Police say the first-degree murder charge was laid because the woman's injuries were so severe.

"The charge supports the extent that he went to ensure she was dead," said Staff Sgt. Grant Miller with the Calgary Police Service Homicide Unit.

The couple did not have children and had been married for a few years.

Police say there is no history of domestic violence and the woman, originally from India, has no family in Calgary.

An autopsy to confirm the woman's identity and cause of death will take place Monday.Calgary police are classifying the death as thesixth homicide of the year.
