Impaired driving charge possible for man involved in fatal Glenmore Trail crash

A man involved in a fatal multi-vehicle crash on Glenmore Trail on Sunday could be facing impaired driving charges, police say.

A man involved in the fatal multi-vehicle crash on Glenmore Trail on Sunday could be facing criminal chargespending of review of blood-alcohol tests and consultations with the Crown, police say.

Insp. Ken Thrower with the Calgary police traffic unit said "there was driving behaviour out there that was showing that it was reckless, so it's still under investigation and charges have not been concluded on that."

One man believed to be in his 60s was killed in the crash and four others were taken to area hospitals, two in serious condition and two in stable, non-life-threatening condition.

  • An earlier version of this story said impaired driving charges had been laid against a man involved in the fatal crash on Glenmore Trail. Police later clarified that one of their spokesmen had misspoke and, in fact, the collision is still under investigation and charges have not yet been laid.
