Overdosing in a stolen vehicle, Marlborough crash sends six to hospital

Calgary police say a crash that injured six people in Marlborough on Monday afternoon involved a stolen car with a driver who was overdosing.

Calgary police say a crash that injured six people in Marlborough on Monday afternoon involved a stolen car with a driver who was overdosing.

The collision took place shortly before 4:30 p.m. in the 600-block of Marlborough Way N.E. and involved a white GMC vanand a red Mazda sedan.

The driver of the stolen vehicle, believed to be in his 30s,was unconscious when crews arrived and paramedics had to use Naloxone used for treating overdoses from opioids, including fentanyl to revive him.

According to EMS, thatmanand a female passenger in her 20s both had to be extricated from the stolenvehicle and were taken to hospital in serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

The other four people involved in the crash, ranging in age from their 30s to their 50s, allsuffered minor injuries.

The collision required five ambulances.
