Pedestrian killed by C-Train walking on tracks, say police

A man struck and killed by the C-Train north of the Victoria Park-Stampede LRT station early Wednesday morning was walking on the tracks, police say.

A man struck and killed by a C-Train northof the Victoria Park-Stampede LRT station early Wednesday morning was walking on the tracks.

Police say the man, believed to be in his 60s, wasn't authorized to be in the tunnel and that he was walking southbound between the trackswhen he was hit. It's not known what he was doing in the tunnel.

The C-Train driver was not injured, but she was taken to hospital as a precaution, police said.

There will be delays on the 201 Crowfoot to Somerset line as shuttle buses replace train service between the Erlton-Stampede and Eighth Street stations, Calgary Transit's website said.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact police.
