The Penguin Walk at the Calgary Zoo is back for its fourth year, giving the animals a chance to stretch their legs and the public a chance to watch the King Penguins on the march.

For the fourth year in a row, the Calgary Zoo is letting its King Penguins out for a daily stroll.

"A daily walk is a positive enrichment tool for the king penguins," says Dr. Malu Celli, with the Calgary Zoo in a media release. "The birds can travel up to 30 kilometres in the wild to reach open water, so the benefits are tremendous for their welfare here at the Calgary Zoo."

It also doesn't hurt the facility to have the promenade on display for the public, as the flightless birds waddle down pathways.

The procession occurs every day at 11 a.m., starting at the Penguin Plunge building and then continuing down to the bridge before looping back home.

It's not a guaranteed thing, though. Itcould be cancelled, depending on the mood of the penguins, strong windor weather below 25 C.

Up to eight penguins participate in the walk.
