A Calgary woman was shocked when she went to pick up her mail on Tuesday evening to discover her entire community mailbox missing.

"I'm like, 'was there a mailbox ever here?' I was questioning myself if I was crazy or not, and then I walked up a bit closer to the concrete slabs, which confirmed I wasn't crazy, and sure enough there was nothing left," said Peyton Langdon.

Langdon said she was waiting on insurance slips for her car, but she spoke to Canada Post and thankfully they haven't been mailed yet.

Canada Postconfirmed the mailbox, located across the street from 6912 Rundlehorn Drive N.E., was stolen and that police are investigating the theft.

In the meantime, customers can pick up mail at the Canada Post facility at 2777 Sunridge Blvd. N.E., which is open Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.

That frustrates Langdon a bit, who noted that as most people work during those hours, it may be difficult for them to access the mail until a new box is installed.

"I think they would just make it a lot easier if they just brought it to the closest Canada Post storefront," she said.

Canada Post said customers concerned about identity fraud can contact theCanadian Anti-Fraud Centre at 1-888-495-8501, and if they're expecting mail they haven't received to contact the sender.
