Crescent Heights shooting prompts Calgary police investigation

Calgary police are investigating a shooting early this morning after a man was taken to hospital in serious condition.

A man is in serious but stable conditionin hospital after a shooting inCalgary's northeast early this morning.

Calgary policecontinue to investigatethe shooting, which happened in the 1300 block of FirstStreet N.E. in Crescent Heights,around 1 a.m. MT.

Police do not believe itis a random incidentbut they are unsure of the motive and do not have a description of the suspect.

A neighbour, who was only identified as Jerry and lives a few houses away, said he didn't hear gunshots but looked out his window after hearing about the incident.

"I could see blood in the alley behind me. It looks pretty grave."

He says there have been problems like petty crime in the neighbourhood, but nothing this serious.

"This is new to me this kind of severity of crime."
