Marlborough shooting victim Emmanuel Keror known to Calgary police

A 22-year-old man shot dead in front of his northeast Calgary home may have been killed as part of a revenge attack, Calgary police say.

A 22-year-old man shot deadin front of his northeast Calgary home may have been killed as part of a revenge attack, Calgary police say.

Emmanuel Keror was gunned down inthe 4600 block ofMaryvaleDrive N.E. at6:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Police have taken two men in their 20s into custody, but their names have not been released pending charges.

The brazen attack may be linked to the2012 homicide of PhilipAnny, according toInsp.Don Coleman.

DengLinoKerorwas convicted of second-degree murder afterAnnywas shot during a drug deal in 2012.

Tuesday's victim,EmmanuelKeror,is the brother ofDengLinoKeror, a source confirms to CBC News.

The suspects and victim were known to each other and topolice in connection with allegedviolence, property and drug-related incidents, Coleman said.

Two residences inBowness, as well as homes in Ogden andApplewoodare all part of the investigation, he added.

Supper hour shooting

Police were called to Marlborough around supper time Tuesdayafter shots were fired in front of a home.

Sabah Matti, a neighbour, said he heard three shots ring out on Tuesday evening.

"I don't know nothing, I heard the shots, that's it," he said, adding it's not the first time he hasseen something like this in his seven years living in the area.

He said a half-hourbefore the shooting he was walking right by the house.

Police are still trying to determine the exactmotive, but say a revenge shooting is "one possibility".

Keror's killing is Calgary'sthird homicide in 2016.
