Stampede live blog: A little bit of country with big international flavour

Pancakes were on the menu but this wasn't your traditional Stampede feast.

The Best of the East Stampede Breakfast had a definitive multicultural flavour, serving breakfast finger-foods from countries all over the world.

The 20th annual event on International Avenue in Forest Lawn celebrated the diversity of community in Calgary.

Restaurants from along the avenue served culinary items from India, Tibet, Indonesia, Thailand, Philippines, Jamaica and Germany.

The entertainment had a distinctive cultural ambience with a flamenco guitar and a high octane dance performance from the Korean Arts Society.

The CBC Stampede posse set up shop at the event and visitors who stopped by entered to win a Stampede prize pack that included the much sought-after CBC belt buckle.

Ceebee, the CBC Kids mascot, has become a community favorite at Stampede events and today he roamed the block handing out sunglasses for kids and enjoyed posing for pictures.

Around 4,000 people attended this year's event including many who were discovering International Avenue for the first time.

The CBC Stampede posse joined this year's Indian Princess and Stampede Royalty at the Community Futures Treaty Seven Stampede BBQ a few blocks from Chinook Mall.

The first 600 guests were treated to free bannock. Local artisans were at the event and entertainment was provided by Armond Duck Chief.

Community Futures Treaty Seven's purpose is to build the Treaty Seven economy through business development.
