Star Wars marathon awakens Calgary fans before dawn

Wookiee fans from across Alberta were up before dawn today to watch all seven episodes at Scotiabank Chinook Theatre in Calgary.

Jedi fans from across Alberta bounced out of bed Thursday morning to watch all six Star War episodes, in a row, before tonight's official release of The Force Awakens.

"It is a lovely day in a galaxy far, far away right now," said CBC Calgary Star Wars Marathon correspondent, Graham White.

The super-fan set his alarm for 2:45 a.m., was in line at the movie theatre by 4 a.m. and has been guzzling back coffee, ever since

Cineplex is only hosting the 17-hour Star Wars Marathon at two Alberta locations: Calgary's Scotiabank Chinook and the South Edmonton Common Cineplex.

However, White says he met a few Edmontonians who traveled all the way to Calgary for the event because there were still a few tickets left Thursday morning for the show.

He says he'salso ran into fans from Medicine Hat, Lethbridge and Red Deer, Alta.

Even Calgarianswho couldn't make it to the Star Wars Marathon were celebrating today.

"They'reextra Chewie," saidJulie Van Rosendaal about theWookiee Cookies she made for the CBC Calgary Suncor Food Bank Drive.
