Paxton was found guilty of aggravated and sexual assault, but not of unlawful confinement, against his former business partner and roommate, who Paxton says he viewed as a brother. Paxton was also found guilty of assault with a weapon and uttering threats against his former roommate Abraham Chutta.

In addition, Court of Queen's Bench Justice Sheilah Martin ruled Monday afternoon against a request from Paxton's defence lawyers for a stay of the proceedings, rejecting the claim that the accused did not get a fair trial.
