Woodbine fatal hit-and-run suspect wanted on Canada-wide warrants

A man wanted in connection with a hit-and-run that killed a 52-year-old carpenter in southwest Calgary last month is now the subject of Canada-wide warrants.

A man wanted in connection with a hit-and-run that killed a 52-year-old carpenter in southwest Calgarylast monthis now the subject of Canada-wide warrants.

The incident began on the Tsuut'ina First Nation on Feb. 18 when a member of the tribe's police force tried to stop a pickup truck that Calgary police believe had been stolen fromChestermere.

The truck sped out of the reserve into Calgary, driving down37thStreet near130thAvenue S.W. in the wrong lane, before colliding head-on with a car andkilling its driver Keith Arthur Morley, 52.

Morley who lived in Turner Valleywasdriving to work on his first day of being a certified Red Seal carpenter, according to hisfamily in hisobituary.

Police arrested two suspects who had fled the scene a male youth, who cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, andJanelle Umbherville, 26.

A third suspect, Derek Brian Grouette, 33, is still at large and police issued the Canada-wide warrant on Wednesday.

Investigators believe he has since left the Calgary area.

Grouette is Caucasian, five feet nine inches tall and weighs about 220 pounds.

He has brown eyes, brown hair and possibly a goatee.

He has tattoos on his upper right arm, shoulders and both forearms, as well as pierced ears, police say.

Grouette faces numerous charges including hit and run causing death, dangerous driving causing death, break and enter and several stolen property charges.
