Dangerous dog lost in Yamnuska area west of Calgary prompts warning from Alberta Parks

AlbertaParks'animal warnings are usually related to wildlife typically bears, sometimescougarsand even, one time,a grouse but an advisory issued over the weekendurges hikers to be on the lookout for a dangerous dog.

The domestic animal, a 64-kilogram great Dane-black lab cross that has been declared a vicious dog by the City of Calgary,was lost on the east end of theYamnuskatraverse on Saturday, according a warning posted Sunday.

The warning is in effect for the Yamnuska Trail and day use area.

Anyone in the vicinityis advised to be on the lookout for the large pet, and not approach it or call to it if they see it.

Dog owners are also advised to keep their own pets on leash when hiking in the areaand to carry bear spray, keep it accessible and know how to use it.

Mount Yamnuska is about 80 kilometres west of Calgary.
