2 killed in Highway 63 crash

Two people died in a collision late Sunday afternoon on Highway 63 in northern Alberta.

Two people died in a collision late Sunday afternoon on Highway 63 in northern Alberta.

The crash between a semi trailer, a Chevrolet Malibu and a Ford LGT pickup truck happened at 5:15 p.m. about 90 kilometres south of Fort McMurray, RCMP said.

Two people in the pickup died in the crash. The driver of the semi-trailer sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital in Fort McMurray. The occupants of the Malibu were not hurt.

The names of the deceased will not be released at this time, RCMP said. The cause of the crash hasn't yet been determined.

Highway 63 was reopened Monday morning after it was closed in both directions to allow RCMP to finish their investigation.
