Boyle Street Community Services has purchased the building in which it is located from its landlord, meaning the agency will remain across the street from the future downtown arena.

"With all the development happening around us, it was important for our community to secure our home here," Boyle Street executive director Julian Daly told CBC News.

Boyle Street Community Services helps9,000 people each year.

Construction of the arena raised fears that that development could push the inner-city agency out of the area. The purchase means that it will stay at 101st Street and 105th Avenue.

Dan Letton, president of Leston Holdings, the company that formerly owned the building, said Boyle Street Community Services is important to the community.

"I don't think it will hurt revitalization," he said.

Daly would not disclose what the agency paid for the building.
