Edmonton International Airport (EIA) and mall developer Ivanho Cambridge are planning to developa 45-acre shopping centre of outlet stores called The Outlet Collection atEIA.

The sprawling complex, to be built on the Queen Elizabeth II Highway south of Airport Road, will be 32,500 square metres and house 85 retail outlets.

Ivanho Cambridge developed "Vaughan Mills" in Toronto, which opened in 2004, and "CrossIron Mills" in Calgary, which opened in 2009, and is currently building "The Outlet Collection at Niagara," set to open next spring.

Revenue generated by leasing the land for the project will be reinvested into providing more air service at the airport, said Myron Keehn, EIA vice president of commercial development.

The scheduled opening date for the mall is fall 2016.
