Former postal worker charged with mail theft

A former Canada Post employee is facing charges related to mail theft following a joint investigation by Canada Post, St. Albert RCMP, and the Edmonton police.

Police began theirinvestigationlast November.They recovered alarge quantity of mail, some dating back as far as 1993. The bulk of thematerial, however, was advertising mail. Canada Post is now notifying customers who lived on the mail route.

A 39-year-old man faces five charges, including mail theft and criminal breach of trust. He is scheduled to be in St. Albert Provincial Court Jan. 18.
