Grand Cache RCMP shoot impaired driving suspect

A driver pulled over by RCMP Thursday night was shot following a confrontation.

Around 9:45 p.m. two officers tried to stop a vehicle theybelieved was being operated by an impaired driver.

Police saya confrontationarose during their investigation of the driver, resulting in the suspect being shot.

The injured suspect then ran off butwas caught a short time later without further trouble and taken tohospital.

The officers were unhurt.

The investigation has now been turned over to theAlberta Serious Incident Response Team, whichinvestigatesincidents involvinginjury or death as the result ofthe actions of a police officer.
