Montreal murder suspect nabbed in Edmonton

An 18-year-old suspect in the murder of a young worker at a Montreal-area gas bar is expected to appear in court Monday in Edmonton.

An 18-year-old suspect in the murder of a young worker at a Montreal-area gas bar is expected to appear in court Monday in Edmonton.

On Saturday, police picked up Sbastien Simon at Edmonton International Airport as he was about to board a flight to Montreal. Police say they got a tip that Simon was in the airport and arrested him without incident.

Another man wanted for questioning following the stabbing death of Brigitte Serre was arrested in Montreal on Monday morning. He was arrested on an unrelated charge, but is considered an important witness in the case.

Serre, 17, was found dead in a washroom in a Shell gas bar and convenience store in St-Lonard, Quebec on Jan. 25. She was working her first overnight shift.

The first suspect in the case, another 18-year-old, turned himself in to Montreal police Friday.

Over the weekend, police also arrested a 19-year-old man in connection with the murder at his father's home in Chicoutimi.

Montreal's chief of police, Yvan Delorme, credited help from the public with moving the case forward so quickly. Even parents of the suspects co-operated, he said.

Funeral services for Serre will be held Monday in Montreal.
