NDP surpassed Wildrose in fundraising during last quarter

The Alberta NDP received $425,438 in donations between July 1 and Sept. 30, 2016. The Wildrose raised $330,666 during the same period.

But Wildrose has raised more than NDP over the last year

For the first time this year,the Alberta NDP has raised more moneythan the Wildrose Party.

During the most recent quarter, from July 1 and Sept. 30, 2016,the NDP received $425,438 in donations, according to financial disclosure reports posted on the Elections Alberta website.The Wildrose raised $330,666 duringthe same period.

However, the Wildrose has regularly surpassed the NDP in donations since the thirdquarter last year.

The latest quarter covers the first three months ofJason Kenney'scampaign to become leader of the Progressive Conservative Party.

The PCs raised $48,209 in that period, nearly $21,000 more than during the previous quarter, but much less than the$105,437 they tookin duringthe first three months of 2016.

Kenney hopesto unite all Alberta conservatives under a single party if he wins the leadership. Four other people are in the race: Richard Starke, Donna Kennedy-Glans, Byron Nelson and Sandra Jansen.
