Students at six rural Alberta classrooms, including one in Onoway, are learning with the help of iPads.

"We understand things better and we can go through, we can look back at things," said Teagan Villeneuve, a Grade 6 student at Onoway Elementary School.

The pilot project has challenged teachers to deliver their lessons in ways to reach different types of learners. The use of tablets also prepares students for the future.

"If the purpose of education is to move our students forward, and to become more knowledgeable about technology and to use it in their lives, this is what we have to prepare them for," said teacher Deirdre Bray.

"It has to be definitely in the classroom."

The CBC's John Robertson filed this report from Onoway.
