RCMP call Castor house fire deaths 'suspicious'

Theremains found ina homedestroyed by fire earlier this month in Castor, Alta., have been identified by RCMP as the 61-year-old homeownerGordon Klausand his 40-year-old daughter Monica Klaus.

Gordon's wife, 62-year-old Sandra Klaus, has not been accounted for but is presumed dead.

Police are now treating the deaths as suspicious, but say they will make no further comments on the ongoing investigation.

Monica had been visiting her parents in the small town, about 1.5hours east of Red Deer.

Firefighters were called to the home early in the morning onDec. 8 and found the houseengulfed in flames when they arrived.

A funeral announcement has been posted online by the couple's only other child, Jason, thanking people for their thoughts and condolences.

"In this time of tragedy, on behalf of Jason and family we ask for your patience and love," it states.

The announcement says funeral arrangementswill be made at a future time.

Castoris a small town of approximately945 people in the Coronation RCMP's jurisdiction.
