Red panda experts from across the planet are gathering in Edmonton this weekend to talk about the future of red panda bears.

The zoo delegates are gathering to discuss future conservation and breeding efforts in North America, as well as efforts to preserve the creatures in the wild.

Today, more than 80 zoos in North America house red pandas, and nearly all work together to breed the bears in order to maintain a viable zoo population.

The goal is to develop long-term research and management strategies for the species.

Watch as Wade Krasnow, the zoo's team leader for animal care, talks more about the meeting, and check out some adorable footage of Pip and Kaldon, the Valley Zoos two resident red pandas.
