Hamilton opens AstraZeneca vaccine walk-in for ages 40 and up

Hamiltonians aged 40 and older in 2021 will be able to get an AstraZeneca vaccine through a walk-in appointment at the David Braley Health Sciences Centre from now until Sunday.

Hamiltonians aged 40 and older in 2021 will be able to get an AstraZeneca vaccine through a walk-in appointment from now until Sunday.

According to a city media release, effective immediately, the Hamilton Primary Care clinic will accept walk-ins from May 6 through May 9at the David Braley Health Sciences Centre.

The city says proof of age must be shown when arriving for an appointment.

The clinic is located at 100 Main St. W. Here is the time availability for walk-ins at theDavid BraleyHealth Sciences Centre:

  • May 6 to 7: 11:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
  • May 8 to 9: 8:30 a.m.to 3:30 p.m.

People will also receive a free parking voucher for the underground parking lot at the David Braley Health Sciences Centre or for the McMaster-owned Bay Street parking lot behind the centre.

Access to the clinic is through the doors off Bay St.

A city of Hamilton spokesperson said there are "no future plans for [other] walk-ins at this point."

If preferred, members of the public in this age range can call the Public Health Services COVID-19 Hotline at 905-974-9848, option 7 for an appointment at the Hamilton Primary Care AstraZeneca vaccination clinics.

Booked appointments at the David Braley Health Sciences Centre are available from May 6 to 13.

Hamilton has administered205,574 doses of COVD-19 vaccine. The city says38.2 per centof Hamiltonians over the age of 16 have received a dose.

The clinic is held by Hamilton Public Health in partnership with its primary care partners.

They include the Hamilton Family Health team, McMaster Family Health team, Hamilton Family Medicine and Community Health Centre partners.
