1 year later, Monica Chisar is still missing and police suspect foul play

One year later, Monica Chisar is still missing.

The29-year-old woman with rust-coloured hairwas last seen in Hamilton, just after midnight on July 11, 2018.

On the anniversary of her disappearance and worried about foul play Hamiltonpolice are calling out for help to anyone who might know what happened.

Chisar was last seen around Barton StreetEastand Parkdale Avenue North,whereher friend was dropping her off at the Beer Store.

She was going to stay with a friend in the area,but police do not know who or in which building.

Chisar was known to disappear for a little while, then pop up somewhere else, Det. Sgt. Dave Oleniuk told reporters in March. But sheusually documented it on Instagram and her account hadbeen dormant for months.

Police saidChisar had a wide range of friends and acquaintances, and Oleniuk describedher as having asomewhat bohemian,"unconventional lifestyle."

"She would be fairly carefree," he said to media in March. "She would go on extended trips and stay with friends."

In the past, he said, she would disappear for a while. But "she'd call from other places, other countries, and touch base with family," he said.

Reddish-brown hair, 5'7 feet tall

Chisaris described as having green eyes and shoulder-length reddish-brown hair, standing5'7 feet tall and170 pounds.

She has a a small star tattoo on the left side of her neck, police said, a crown on her left wrist and tattoos that say"Ethan" and "I love my daddy FC" on her upper back.

She was reported missing on September 28.

Chisar is from Toronto, but has lived in several places. She was also spending time inKitchener.

She had one son from whom she was estranged, and contact on and off with relatives.

Police suspect foul play and the Major Crime Unit has taken over the investigation.It's also possible Chisar disappeared for her own reasons, police said.
