Fentanyl-laced heroin found during $11K drug seizure in St. Catharines: police

Two people are facing drug trafficking charges after a Niagara region police seized $11,000-worth of drugs, including heroine believed to be laced with fentanyl, during a raid.

Two people are facing drug trafficking charges after a Niagara region police seized $11,000-worth of drugs, including heroinbelieved to be laced with fentanyl, during a raid.

Surveillance by officers with the St. Catharinesstreet crime unit revealed the suspects appeared to be making drugdeliveries and selling from a housing community, according to a media release.

Police executed two search warrants around 10 p.m. Thursday and discovered a "significantquantity of heroin(believed to be laced with fentanyl), cocaine, oxycodone" and cash.

A 31-year-old man from Etobicoke and 21-year-old woman from St. Catharinesare facing the following charges:

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking heroin.
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine.
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking oxycodone.
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime.

Police estimated the street value of the drugs is $11,000 and the total amount of cash seized was $4,000
