Hamilton fast food fight results in hit-and-run

A Hamilton man was injured after being hit by a car driven by a man, who police say, got into an altercation with the victim at a fast food joint earlier earlier that night.

A Hamilton man faces a number of charges after police say he hit another man with his car following an altercation at a fast food joint.

According to police, early Sunday morning at around 3 a.m.,a 22-year-oldmale and his girlfriend were at a fast foodjoint when they got into an argument with two men in the King Street West and Caroline Street area. The couple left the restaurant and headed to a parking lot at Market Street and Bay Street North when a dark coloured Audi hit the gas pedal and struck the man.

Police say the driver fled the scene then later went to the police station to report his car stolen. They say it was later revealed that the car had not been stolen and that the owner was in fact behind the wheel at the time of the incident.

A 23-year- oldHamilton has been charged with public mischief, dangerous operation of a vehicle, failure to stop and breach of probation.
