Supercrawl 2015: Locals storm through rainy first night

Though Friday night's rain put a damper on the party, a lineup full of local acts surged through soggy conditions to deliver a memorable start to Supercrawl 2015.

Both hometown favourites Monster Truck and Terra Lightfoot shone on the main stage, with Lightfoot overcoming some technical hiccups thanks to the rain much to the delight of a vocal and appreciative crowd.

"Supercrawl is a time to fall in love," Lightfoot said onstage with a smile. "I would know, because it happened to me."

Monster Truck played to a sizable crowd at the new main stage location near Gore Park, though it was a far cry from the onslaught of people that packed James Street North last year when Arkells headlined the first night of the festival.

Still, the crowd roared as the band tore through songs from their last record, Furiosity.

Other local acts like The Vaudevillian, Pet Sun, Spruce Invaders and Toronto transplants Elliott Brood graced the festival's three music stages, with out of town artists like Not Of and Catl rounding out the night.
