More gunfire on Stoney Creek residential street

Neighbours heard more gunfire at a home on a Stoney Creek Mountain residential street overnight, just days after they were awoken bytwo bouts of gunfire one night last week.

Police have not disclosed many detailsof the gunfire incidents.

Earlier in the week, police responded to a report of shots fired at 4:30 a.m. on Monday and said there were no injures. "The incident does not appear to be random," police said. They didn't release any more information about the incident.

A neighbour, who asked not to be identified over fears for his safety, said the week has been "unnerving." He said police came to the street again Saturday night.

"We all feel powerless," he said. "It's happening a little too frequently three rounds of shots fired in the same week is a bit much."

Hamilton police Staff Sgt. John Canaris said he knew of the reported gunfire this weekend but did not have details at hand to share Sunday afternoon.

A neighbour previously told CBC News he heard shots not once but twice on Monday morning once at 2:30 a.m. and again at 4 a.m.

"We were awoken, it was very loud," the neighbour said. "First I thought it was fireworks, but I know in my heart it wasn't."

The neighbour says that a bullet shattered one of the windows of the property in question,and saysthat he has been petitioning the city to do something about the home for years.

The home was raided by a police tactical unit in the fall of 2016, the neighbour said.

Investigators, the neighbour says, are not saying much about the incident.

"They are very tight lipped. They're not telling the community anything."
