Temperatures back above zero after night of freezing rain

There's a chance of snow later this week.

After a brief overnight dump of freezing rain, temperatures will be back above zero in Hamilton on Tuesday. And there's a chance of snow later this week.

Environment Canada predicts temperatures will reach 6 C on Tuesday with periods of rain or drizzle.Overnight temperatures will be fairly mild for winter too, dropping to -2 C with a 40 per cent chance of drizzle.

Monday night's mix of rain, snow and freezing rain5.8 mm of precipitation totalcaused one brief power outage. Power was out on parts of Lawrence Road and Central Avenue, impacting 568 homes, Horizon Utilities reported. As of Tuesday morning, there are no reported power outages.

As for the rest of the week, temperatures will stay hovering around freezing. The high Wednesday will be 3 C with a chance of showers.

On Thursday, the last day of the year, they'll reach as high as -1 C with a chance of flurries. That chance will continue on through Friday and Saturday with a high of -1 C.
