A Niagara police officer has his badge back after someone returned his lost wallet without the badge in it.

Niagara Regional Police Service says the detective dropped his wallet in a Walmart parking lot on Welland Avenue in St. Catharines around 2:30 p.m.on Sept. 10.

Someone returned the wallet, police said, but his badge wasn't in it.

Video footage showed a woman picking up the badge and leaving with it, police said. The service put out a call on Saturday and someone has returned the badge.

"The Niagara Regional Police would like to thank the community for their assistance," the service said.
