Police seize $200k worth of stolen vehicles, trailers and car parts from Simcoe, Ont. property, OPP

Around $200,000 worth of vehicles and parts were seized from a homein Simcoe, Ont., police say.

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) said in a news release on Monday they found "five stolen vehicles, two utility trailers, numerous vehicle parts, and vehicle accessories," at a property on Windham Road 13.

OPP constable Andrew Gamble told CBC Hamilton, in an email, that the vehicles included "a range of Chevrolet, Dodge, Ford, and GMC pickup trucks, dating from early 2000s models to late 2010s models."

The OPP Norfolk County detachment said their auto theft prevention unitstarted an investigation in September.

On Friday, at around 7:13 a.m., police say they executed a search warrant and charged a 48-year-old man with five counts of "possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000" and two counts of "possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000."

"Motor vehicle thefts have surged across the province since 2021, and our officers in Norfolk County remain committed to protecting our community members' vehicles," said Gamble.
