Stolen taxi nearly crashes into Hamilton police headquarters

No one was injured, police say, after customer stole a taxi cab anddrove it in a "dangerous manner" before coming to a stop in front of Hamilton police headquarters and turning himself in.

A 29-year-old man with no fixed addresstook the cab around 11 p.m. after fighting with the driver near Fennel Avenue and Governors Boulevard, according to police. He then drove toward the central police station on King William Street "narrowly missing several parked vehicles on the way."

The cab jumped the curb and came to a stop in front of the stationnarrowly avoiding a collision with thepolice headquarters sign.

The driver has been arrested and charged with robbery, dangerous operation of a vehicle and four counts of breaching probation.
