2 future doctors on trying to get into medical school

Applying for med school in B.C. is not for the faint of heart. There's the studying. The stress. The months of preparation and the crushing disappointment when you don't get in. We met two young men from Kamloops - One made the cut while the other didn't and went to Med school in Poland instead.

All this week on Daybreak, we are talking about the doctor shortage in Kamloops.

The challenge is that there are many high achieving students in Kamloops trying to get into med school , but not making the cut.

We met several hopefuls who have tried all sorts of strategies to earn a medical degree so they can work right here at home.

We invited two of them into our studio.

Dustin Janz made the grade and got into UBC's med school on his first attempt.

Brandon Mitchell did not.
