Cambridge woman arrested in connection to online puppy scam

A 24-year-old Cambridge woman has been arrestedin connection to an online puppy scam, the Waterloo Region Police Service announced Friday.

A 24-year-old Cambridge woman has been arrestedin connection to an online puppy scam, the Waterloo Region Police Service announced Friday.

Ten victims reported to police that in early April, they responded to online advertisements for French bulldog puppies. They communicated with the advertiserand were sent pictures of the dogs.

When victims asked to see the puppies in personthey were allegedly told thatdue to COVID-19 restrictions no viewings would be allowed.

Deposits were sent in order to secure a puppybut the victims never received a dog, police said.

WRPS say they wantto remind people to pause and consider the situation before sending money over the internet.
