Waterloo riding: Liberal Bardish Chagger elected

Liberal candidate Bardish Chagger has been elected in the riding of Waterloo with 49.3 per cent of the popular vote, defeating incumbent Conservative Peter Braid.

Liberal candidate Bardish Chaggerhas been elected in the ridingof Waterloo, defeatingincumbent Conservative Peter Braid.

With about 80per cent of the polls counted, Chagger has 49.3per centof the popular vote. Braid has 32.7per cent,NDP candidate Diane Freeman has14.8per cent and Green candidate Richard Walsh has2.9per cent.

Waterloo was renamed from "Kitchener-Waterloo" forthe 2015 federalelection, and the small section of Kitchener formerly includedinthe ridingwas removedin the redistribution.

In the 2011 election, Conservative Peter Braid won with 41 per cent of the vote share.
