Relive live music at CBC K-W's Sounds of the Season

CBC K-W's annual Sounds of the Season kicked off Friday with an exchange. Listeners were asked to donate money and non-perishable items to The Food Bank of Waterloo Region. In return, local musicians gave them food for the soul.

AmbreMcLean

Ambre McLean was the morning's house musician, playing the show on the air and off the air at the beginning and end of every hour. She told Craig Norris, host of The Morning Edition,her new album titledMy Heartcame out six days ago. She played the song Posteroff the album live at TheMuseum in downtown Kitchener.

Blue Sky Singers

The Blue Sky Singers a group of First Nations musicians played two sets of songs during the show. The first set, fittingly, included a Cherokee morning song and a Mi'kmaq welcome song.

Twin City Harmonizers

Every year, The Morning Edition likes to invite a choir to sing at its Sounds of the Season. This year the Twin City Harmonizers received the invitation. Started in 1946, the Harmonizers are a classy crew. They sang Jingle Bells for the live audience at CBC K-W's Sounds of the Season.

Rick Guzik

Finally, it wouldn't be a CBC K-W Sounds of the Season kickoff event without a sing-along. Accordion player Rick Guzik led the live audience in this rousing rendition of Jingle Bells.

The live broadcast at TheMuseum signed off at 8:37 a.m., but Sounds of the Season will continue all December.

The annual charity drive supports The Food Bank of Waterloo Region, who serve more than 100 local agencies and programs that provide nutrition education, counselling, employment skills and shelter in addition to much needed food items.
