Kelly Linton re-elected as mayor of Centre Wellington

Kelly Linton has been re-elected as mayor of Centre Wellington.

Linton received 5,242 votes in Monday's municipal election. Fred Morris, who had served as councillor for the Fergus area and was looking to unseat Linton, received 3,232 votes.

Linton had raised eyebrows with a T-shirt incentive scheme among his supporters.

These councillors were also elected Monday:

  • Ward 1: Ian MacRae won with 1,206 votes.
  • Ward 2: Incumbent Kirk McElwain won with 487 votes.
  • Ward 3: Bob Foster won with 968 votes (incumbent Dean Workman came in third with 258 votes).
  • Ward 4: Neil Dunsmore won with 834 votes.
  • Ward 5: Incumbent Stephen Kitras won with 746 votes.
  • Ward 6: Incumbent Steven VanLeeuwen was acclaimed.
  • County Councillor for Ward 4: Stephen O'Neill won with 564 votes.
  • County Councillor for Ward 5: Mary Lloyd was acclaimed.
  • County Councillor for Ward 6: Diane Ballantyne won with 1,660 votes.
