Cyclist dead after being hit by truck in Centre Wellington

Police say a fatal collision between a pick-up truck and a cyclist Tuesday evening west of Salem remains under investigation.

A 55-year-old cyclist from Elora is dead after being hit while cycling in Centre Wellington near Salem.

Wellington OPP say officers were called to an area on Wellington Road 18, west of Salem, Tuesday at 8 p.m. for reports a red pick-up truck had hit a cyclist.

The road between Wellington Road 7 and Eighth Line W. was closed until early Wednesday morning as investigators were on scene.

Police say the cause of the collision is still under investigation. Anyone who may have been in the area and has dashcam or video footage, or witnessed what happened, is asked to contact OPP or Crime Stoppers.
