Guelph man charged with second degree murder after fatal assault Wednesday

A 21-year-old Guelph man has been charged with second degree murder after Guelph Police said a man working as a security guard was assaulted and later died in hospital.

A 21-year-old Guelph man has been charged with second degree murder after Guelph Police said a man working as a security guard was assaulted and was later pronounced dead in hospital.

Police received a report of a disturbance behind aVIA Station located onCarden Street at approximately8:47 p.m. Wednesday night.

Police said a 63-year-old man working as a security guard was assaulted and was found on scene withlife threatening injuries.

The man was takento the Guelph General Hospital, where he later died from hisinjuries, according to police.

Police said the 21-year-old man was arrested at the scene as was charged with second degree murder. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing today.
