SIU investigating serious injury at Queensmount Arena during Oktoberfest

The province's police watchdog is appealing for witnesses to an incident at Queensmount Arena during Oktoberfest, that left a 43-year-old man seriously injured.

The province's police watchdog is appealing forwitnesses to an incident at an Oktoberfest eventthat left a43-year-old man seriously injured.

The Special Investigations Unit says the man was at AltesMuenchen Haus at the Queensmount Arena in Kitchener, on thenight of Oct. 9, when he was approached by Waterloo regional policeofficers.

The SIU says there was an interaction between the man and theofficers, the man was arrested, taken to thedetachment and thenreleased a short time later.

The man was later diagnosed with a serious injury.

The SIU is urging anyone who may have information, or video orphotos of the interaction to contact investigators.

The SIU is an arms-length agency that investigates reportsinvolving police where there has been death, serious injury orallegations of sexual assault.
