Kitchener Public Library says it will start putting free menstrual products in all washrooms at the central branch starting on Nov. 4.

The move comes as other libraries and cities offer free menstrual products, including in Guelph, Halifax, Victoria and across Prince Edward Island. The Waterloo Region District School Board also offers free pads and tampons in school washrooms.

The library made the announcement on Twitter Friday morning with KPL CEO Mary Chevreau tweeting, "We are thrilled to be a leader on menstrual equity in this region."

The move also comes after Cambridge city council decided not to move forward with the idea of putting pads and tampons in all washrooms in city-run facilities.
