LRT construction closes King Street in Waterloo for 3 weeks

There will be three short-term road closures of King Street in uptown Waterloo starting March 6 as more LRT construction work gets underway.

The closures, which willlast a total of approximately three weeks, will be done back-to-back.

The region said Grandlinqneeds to complete work on underground utilities and will make minor repairs that were identified through the quality assurance program.

The first phase of construction will happen between Erb Street and William Street. The King and Willis Way intersection will be closed, but the King and Erb and King and William intersections will be open.

The second phase will close King Street between William Street and Allen Street. The King and William intersection will be closed, but the King and Allen intersection will be open. Southbound traffic from Willis Way onto King will be restricted.

The final phase of construction will affect King Street between William Street and John Street. The King and Allen intersection will be closed and southbound traffic from William onto King will be restricted, although the intersection will be open.

The region said construction will "generally" take place between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. Monday to Saturday. Detours will be in place for customers and deliveries to reach local businesses.
