Low pressure system could bring 'heavy rainfall' to Waterloo region

A low pressure system could bring heavy rainfall to Waterloo region starting Thursday evening through Friday, Environment Canada says.

A low pressure system could bring heavy rainfallto Waterloo region starting Thursday evening through Friday, Environment Canada says.

The federal weather agency issued a special weather statement just before 11 a.m. on Thursday saying rainfall amountsof 25 to 50 mm are possible.

A special weather statement is in effect for Kitchener, Cambridge and the Region of Waterloo.

"Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible," Environment Canada said.

On Thursday, the forecast calls for a 60 per cent chance of showers with a high of 25 C.
