A COVID-19 outbreak has been declared at an inpatient unit at Cambridge Memorial Hospital.

Two patients from the Medicine B inpatient unit located in Wing C, on the fourth floor of the hospital, have tested positive.

An outbreak was declared in consultation with the Region of Waterloo Public Health because the two cases are thought to be linked.

If no new cases arise, the outbreak will be declared over on March 27.

This comes after St Mary's General Hospital in Kitchener declared a COVID-19 outbreak on Saturday.

Six patients tested positive in themedicine unit, located on the fourth floor of the hospital building.

The outbreak at St. Mary's General Hospital is anticipated to be over by March 28.

Visitors will not be allowed to enter any parts of Cambridge Memorial Hospital or St Mary's General Hospital currently experiencing an outbreak unless there are exceptional circumstances.

All patients will still be able to connect with loved ones over the phone or virtually, the hospitals said.
