Waterloo Region weather: snow squall watch issued

Environment Canada has issued a snow squall watch forWaterloo Region and Wellington County. The weather agency says it's possible that strong snow squalls could develop later in the evening off of Lake Huron, and theregion could seesnow amounts between 10 to 15 centimetres.

A blowing snow advisory is continued for Waterloo Region and Wellington County,warning that visibilitycould reduce drastically and suddenly to near zero. The weather agency says it issues the advisory whenever snow reduces visibility to 800 metres or less for at least three hours.

Afternoon: Flurries, about twocentimetres,winds 40 gusting to 60 kilometres an hour with local blowing snow. The temperature will peak in the afternoon at -4 C. The windchill will make it feel more like -13.

Evening and overnight: Ten centimetres of snow predicted for tonight, wind gusts between 40 to 60 kilometres an hourdiminishing after midnight. There's a risk of snow squalls through the evening and past midnight.Evening temperature steady at -5 C, with the overnight low predicted to be -10 C.
