Eastbound 401 lanes reopen after fatal two-vehicle crash

The driver of a pickup truck died at the scene of a collision with a transport truck south of London Tuesday afternoon, police say.

Police are asking anyone with dashcam footage of the incident to contact them

The driver of apickup truck is deadafter being thrown from their truck in a two-vehicle collision south of London onTuesday afternoon.

Emergency crews arrived on the scene after reports of a crash between a transport truck and pickup truckin the eastbound lanes of Hwy.401 atColonel Talbot Roadshortly after 3 p.m., according to provincial police.

The driver of the transport truck was uninjured, police say.

Police temporarilyclosed the eastbound lanes of Hwy. 401 between Colonel Talbot and Wonderland roads as they investigated the crash. They were reopened by Wednesday morning.

OPP Const. EdSanchuk warned drivers in the westbound lanes driving past the crash to stop taking pictures.

"Officers will be setting up on the roadway and if you happen to be on your cell phone, I can anticipate you're going to be stopped and given the ticket." he said.

Middlesex County OPP,London Fire Department and London Middlesex EMS attended to the collision.

"Our thoughts and prayers go to everyone affected by this tragedy,"Sanchuck said.

"Thank you to the Good Samaritans that stopped to try andrender aid. You really made a difference.From the bottom of our hearts, thank you. You made a really difficult situation easier today."

OPP are asking the public who hasdash cam footage of the crash to get in touch with investigators at 1-888-310-1122.
