Second London health care worker succumbs to COVID-19

A second London health care worker has died from COVID-19. The woman was a personal support worker for the Sisters of St. Joseph convent in London.

A second London health care worker has died from COVID-19.

The woman was a personal support worker for the Sisters of St. Josephin London.

Sister Margo Ritchie said the woman died in hospital on Sunday. Ritchie declined to release the name or age of the worker because of privacy concerns for the family.

But Ritchie said she had worked as a PSW for the Sisters of St. Joseph for 16 years.

"It's a great sadness. Our hearts go out to the family. It's such a difficult situation when someone is in the hospital and dies from COVID."

Ritchie described the worker as very kind and skilled.

"Our sisters had a great affection for her, and she for them."

Ritchie said the Sisters have been in touch with the family and are offering as much support as possible.

Earlier this week, a nurse at Kensington Village in London died after testing positive for COVID-19. Brian Beattie, 57, was the first registered nurse in Canada to die fromthe disease.
